"Do not Fight Over Me" DP Ruto to Kenyans

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday evening, December 19, urged Kenyan citizens to uphold unity and shun fighting over political leaders.

Speaking during a meeting with local leaders in Sugoi, Uasin Gichu County, Ruto stated that it was the core responsibility of every leader to enhance and maintain peace.

"Mimi sitaki Kenya igombane kwa sababu yangu, hapana (I do not want Kenyans to fight because of me)," Ruto declared.

Further, he told leaders that to enhance unity and hard-work as it portended the prosperity of a country.

"Real unity is interfaith, inter-community and across regions. Cohesion is not a one-off event, we have to keep doing the work and we have to stay engaged because it is our responsibility," Ruto stated.

He went ahead and disclosed that the Jubilee Party remained committed to its founding principles of unity and transformation

"Getting a win during the election was just a bonus. We will make sure that this country moves forward," he stated.

Ruto added that he was committed to turning the country around and ensuring that peace prevailed.

Earlier during the day, the DP presided over the second edition of the chicken auction at Kambi Kuku, Jua Kali, Uasin Gishu County.

He spent a whooping Ksh1.1 million during the open-air sale with President Uhuru Kenyatta spending Ksh1 million in the auction that stemmed from the DP's nostalgia of his chicken-hawking days at the area.
