Ugandan Parliament Surprise Ruto With Birthday Party

Uganda Parliament staff and Serena Kampala employees on Saturday, December 21, hosted a surprise birthday party for Deputy President William Ruto.

In photos shared on social media, the DP was seen cutting a cake while surrounded by the staff, children and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa, who cheer him on.

The DP, who arrived in Kampala on Friday, December 21, also paid a courtesy call to President Yoweri Museveni at State Lodge, Mubende.

On his part, Museveni pledged Ksh10 million towards the construction of the William Ruto Leadership Institute at Makerere University. 

“This institute would go a long way in Africans deepening their knowledge base and furthering research that would transform Africa,” stated Museveni.

At the same time, Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto, took to her social media platforms to send her heartfelt message to her husband.

"Happy birthday Bill. My best friend and confidant. This day is special as we celebrate your birthday and our wedding anniversary. Thus far we have come, all I can say is thank you.

"Nothing I can do can repay the amount of love and support you have shown," Rachel stated.

"My prayer for you as we go forward is Numbers‬ ‭6:24-26. The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace," she added.

The DP, who was born in 1966, turned 53 years old on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
