Armed Officers Violently Rob Relatives After Dowry Event

Four Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Officers based at Baawa KWS Station in Samburu were on Friday arrested for violently robbing a group of relatives on December 26, 2019, while coming from a Dowry function.

According to a report by the DCI, the victims who were returning to their homes from Lodogojek area had been blocked by the armed officers on board a KWS Land Cruiser, who robbed them of Ksh 9,500 and other personal items.

Upon receiving the report and conducting an identification parade to pick out the culprits who had disappeared to their station after the robbery, detectives arrested four suspects.

The officers apprehended included Corporal James Lamata, and wardens Brian Kiplangat, Dad Said and Peter Kirui

The DCI confirmed that all the officers had been placed in custody pending arraignment to answer to charges of Robbery with Violence contrary to section 296 (2) of the Penal Code.

At the same time, on Friday, December 27 a GSU officer was among three people arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal investigations in Mombasa in connection with the kidnapping of a Safaricom employee.

Constable Kelvin Komora who is based in Baringo was arrested alongside Grace Wairimu and Omar Mwanguze after Abducting a 36-Yr-Old Safaricom employee who works in Malindi.
