Ruto's Ally Speaks on DP Leaving Jubilee Party

Digital Innovations and Diaspora Communications Director Dennis Itumbi, on Saturday, January 4, spoke on whether Deputy President William Ruto would be leaving the Jubilee Party.

Itumbi clarified the DP's stand after a post circulated on social media platforms, claiming that he would be leaving the ruling party.

"I will be leaving Jubilee to revive URP. We have had unreasonable issues with the president and it is only fair to quit.

"I wish my brother President Uhuru all the best in the remainder of his term. It was both humbling and an honour to serve with you, cheers!" read the post that has been marked as fake.

While debunking the post, Itumbi stated that it was fake, and gave reasons why Kenyans should ignore it.

"The DP tweets using Android, not iPhone, all parties signed a sunrise clause of 10 years - URP can only return in 2027," Itumbi addressed.

The ruling party seems to be divided with some MPs affiliated to the party constantly having wrangles within them.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege declared that she was ready to leave Jubilee Party if a section of its leaders continued jeopardizing President Uhuru Kenyatta's efforts in fighting corruption.

Ms Chege stated that the president was fighting graft but some party members were sabotaging it.

"Wakicheza na sisi, either tutawango'a Jubilee ama tuwaachie (If they play with us, we will either kick them out of Jubilee or we will leave the party to them)," Sabina spoke.

She further warned it's leaders to abide by the set rules and support the president as he completes his term.
