Fracas Erupts as Rival Mt Kenya Factions Clash on Live TV

Commotion ensued on Monday, January 6, when supporters of Kandara MP Alice Wahome encountered a rival group during a press conference.

The supporters of the outspoken MP had called for members of the media to give an address in support of her remarks.

In a live broadcast by Inooro TV,  the group sought to defend her against the backlash that resulted from her comments terming president Uhuru Kenyatta as the biggest threat to the country's economy.

The People Daily reported that minutes into their address, the rival group stormed in declaring their remarks as unacceptable.

The fracas that followed lasted approximately an hour as the factions engaged each other in a verbal exchange.

According to the publication, the groups exchange almost turned into a fistfight.

Laban Thuo - who was allied to Wahome stated that the MP was entitled to her opinion and she had the right to criticise the government.

"We are angry when we see the MP being attacked because she had done nothing wrong, she just spoke her mind," he stated.

On the other hand, Alex Mbote who was leading the opposing faction stated that they would not allow any meeting organised in support of the Kandara Mp's sentiments to proceed.

"We have given team tanga tanga time to crisscross the county but we are not going to give them space anymore," he was quoted by People Daily.
