Raila's ODM Opens Office in Central to Rival Jubilee

The Orange Democratic Movement ODM went a notch higher in growing its support within Central Kenya, after opening an office and equipping it with key staff.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Njuguna Njohi and ODM mobilizer from Ol Kalou where the branch was opened in September 2019, indicated that the office was staffed in January 2020 and running in full throttle.

“The ODM office has brought to light many supporters of Raila Odinga who remained silent about their affiliation in the past. We thank the party for making sure that the office is running from 8 am to 5 pm every day," he lauded.

“We are Raila’s followers and have no doubt that he is a great leader. We can now openly express our support for him that continues to grow,” remarked Njuguna.

The ardent ODM member further indicated that the branch is preparing for the official launch by the party leadership.

“We are in communication with the party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna to officiate the opening of the Nyandarua County offices,” he intimated.

“We also hope that the party leader Raila Odinga will make his way to the offices soon. This will send a strong statement for followers of the greatest party in Kenya,” added Njohi.

Despite the region being known as a stronghold of the ruling Jubilee Party, the members indicated that the tides are slowly changing with more members registering every day.

“Since its opening, members have continued registering. The rate at which members are embracing the party is motivating. We look forward to making this place an ODM tolerant zone," he told this writer.

"The handshake by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga has enabled us to freely interact as followers of Baba in Central Kenya,” indicated Njohi.

“When the offices opened, everyone thought that there will be no activities in it. Others thought it would just close down,” a media corresponded informed Kenyans.co.ke.

“However, to the surprise of many, its effects continue to be slowly felt as democracy continues to allow them to choose freely,” remarked the journalist.

In November 2019, the ODM party launched its new multi-million headquarters located in Lavington, Nairobi in an event led by party leader Raila Odinga.

During the event attended by ODM members and leaders, the party also unveiled its digital membership registration programme.
