Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Friday, January 10, spoke to Kenyans.co.ke after he was arrested by police officers from Kilimani Police Station.
Kuria stated that he was arrested after going to the police station to record a statement following claims by Kiambu activist, Joyce Wanja, that he had assaulted her.
Earlier, netizens had called for his arrest after the video circulated widely.
"I was assaulted by Kuria after the show after I told him that his utterances during a past music show at Ruiru were demeaning to women.
"I have been going to the police to write statements concerning the same but I have never gotten justice," remarked Wanja.
On social media, blogger Dennis Itumbi alleged that politicians had choreographed Kuria's arrest. He went ahead and stated that he would also record a statement in favour of the MP.
"The complainant wanted money. Moses said he was not guilty and would not be blackmailed!" Itumbi wrote on Twitter.
Further, he claimed that police officers had dismissed a medical report provided by the complainant, stating that Kuria did not deserve to be arrested.
Our efforts to contact Ms Wanja for a comment were futile.
