Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has called out Embakasi East legislator Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino over what she termed as lack of respect for women.
Babu had resorted to social media to make disparaging remarks towards Kandara MP Alice Wahome on Saturday, January 11, 2020, threatening to shave her.
Taking to Twitter, Passaris expressed her disappointment at the first time legislator's remarks, informing that his threats amounted to defilement.
"Babu respect women. You can only shave your wife not a fellow legislator, or any other woman without their explicit consent," Passaris advised.
"Any action to the contrary will be an act of defilement," she added.
The Nairobi woman representative asked Babu to withdraw the threat because it was demeaning and beyond recognised political banter parameters.
"I am extremely disappointed with this post. Pull it down. There're boundaries we should not cross," Passaris stated.
Babu's remarks were sparked by Wahome's continued criticism of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The Kandara lawmaker alleged that President Kenyatta and Raila were the biggest enemies of the country's progress.
"Alice Wahome must respect Baba and President Uhuru or we will shave every part of her body that has hair. This is not a threat it’s a promise," Babu stated.
