Passaris Invites Woman to Sleep-Over After Touching Story

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Tuesday, January 14, invited a woman for a sleep-over at her home after she shared a touching story online.

In a series of tweets, the woman seemingly in distress revealed her battles with poverty and insecurity over her skin tone, disclosing that Passaris had come to her rescue once before.

"You, my child, are coming for a sleepover when I am back. We going to work on your self-esteem. Till our date, every time you look into the mirror, I want you to say to yourself, I am beautiful.

"You are beautiful and I love you," Passaris wrote in response.

Going by the moniker Bosi Bori, the woman had shared a post from March 19, 2019, in which she offered to do house chores in exchange for accommodation, an appeal she noted was unsuccessful.

"Do you own a house around South C or South B or Imara Daima? Do you have an SQ or extra room that is empty I'm willing to work and do house chores just to get a place to sleep so I can make it to school at The Management University of Africa and achieve a dream," it read.

She further attached an image of herself as she revealed how she had to deal with deep-seated insecurities about her appearance and dark skin.

"I may be black, my skin may not be as beautiful and I have my own insecurities. It’s not fun using makeup and filters I have always felt bad for being black, getting teased from childhood always made me feel insecure," she wrote.

She disclosed that she came from a humble background and had faced challenges in completing her education.

"I have both my parents alive, but they were/are not financially stable. And I also lost my grandma which really drained me and didn’t sit for my exams," Bosi Bori wrote.

She further shared an image of Passaris handing her an envelope at a past youth empowerment event.

"I am human, I have my insecurities and every girl has. Yes this is me when I was vulnerable and really needed help. And I am thankful that this changed my life. And I am very thankful to Esther Passaris," she captioned the image.

Passaris is currently recuperating in India after undergoing a spinal surgery at the CIMS Hospital on January 1.

She flew to Ahmedabad, India on December 31, 2019, for the operation.
