Constitutional lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Thursday, January 23, offered to surprise a watchman and his family with Ksh 1 million.
Through his social media pages, the lawyer stated that the security officer, who works in Lavington, had touched his heart when he disclosed his earnings to him.
"He earns Ksh 12,000 a month. I shed tears when he told me about his two kids. When he alighted I gave him some money and he said 'my kids will have soup tonight', " the lawyer captioned on Twitter.
Ahmednasir further extended an invitation to him at his home.
"To pleasantly surprise him and his wife when they come to see me on 15th, from my clients, friends and myself, I will give him and his wife Ksh 1 million to start some small biashara (business).
"I know we have millions like him but who said Allah can't help his servant through another one?" he posed.
The lawyer's followers were pleased with his sentiments and gesture, with many applauding him for his kindness.
"Kenya needs people like you sir. You may not know the change you have brought in the life of that young man but for sure it's so big. Kudoz your honour," Evans Kisangi commented.
"The senior counsel surely turns out to be the best of consolers," Warges weighed in.
"Allah The Almighty has directed you well, surely this heart is beyond reproach and for this, the blessing of Him The Most High will permeate you in every way ever!" Omolo stated.
According to a survey conducted by TIFA in 2019, the high cost of living and employment were reported as some of the challenges faced by most Kenyans.
“The high cost of living is ranked as the number one problem facing Kenyans in all national surveys by TIFA. These sentiments are supported by macro-economic indicators – for instance, the annual inflation rate rose from 3.38 per cent in September 2019 to 5.56 per cent in November 2019.
"As a result, Kenyans are feeling the pinch as they spend more to buy unga," Maggie Ireri, a researcher told The Standard on December 30, 2019.
Kenya's economic growth in 2019 was 5.7 per cent, a decrease from 2018's 5.8 per cent.
