Monica Juma & Raychelle Omamo Swap Offices in Style

Cabinet Secretaries Monica Juma and Raychelle Omamo officially handed over their dockets to each other, following a swap announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta on January 14, 2020.

On Thursday, January 23, the outgoing Foreign Affairs CS attended her farewell party held at KICC where she thanked the staff for their effective pursuit of Kenya's foreign policy which has secured the country as a place of pride among the community of nations.

"The state of our diplomacy is strong because of these patriotic, professional Kenyan diplomats at the headquarters that support our missions across the world," she spoke at her farewell.

Juma was gifted an acrylic painting which showed women working on a farm. 

"Lovely and deeply meaningful picture from my staff epitomizing the value of working together. Thank you!" she posted. 

She then travelled to Ulinzi House, the Ministry of Defence headquarters where she was received by Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe and other members of KDF top brass. 

After attending outgoing Defence CS Raychelle Omamo's farewell, Juma was briefed about the state of affairs at the ministry in readiness to take the reins. 

"Then the full briefing with the top team at Ulinzi including CDF, CAS, PS, Service Commanders in the boardroom," she chronologised. 

Omamo then presented a gift to her successor in the form of a painting of an elephant in the wild. 

The duo travelled to the MFA headquarters at  Old Treasury Building where CS Juma handed over the ministry to the former Defence CS.

Omamo too was gifted a painting, carving and a UNSC campaign pin. 

The hand over was followed by a reception cocktail at Radisson Blu, to sum up the busy day.  

"A memorable well planned day at both ends. Thank you to the transition teams on both ends- you executed the transition with diligence and precision," CS Juma thanked.
