John-Allan Namu Melts Hearts With Impressive Valentines Plan

Africa Uncensored co-founder John-Allan Namu left many Kenyans impressed as he revealed his unique plans for Valentine's Day marked on February 14.

In a video shared on Wednesday, February 5, Namu disclosed that he would be in the kitchen as part of an initiative to cook 10,000 meals to be delivered to schoolchildren.

"Food is love, so let’s show some love to kids who need it this Valentine’s Day," Namu asserted as he invited Kenyans to join him.

The investigative journalist teamed up with nonprofit organisation Food 4 Education and hopes to raise Ksh1 million in support of the organization's goal to feed 100,000 children by the end of 2020.

Other popular personalities involved in the initiative include Homeboyz Radio presenter G Money and music producer Tim Rimbui.

Noting that the kitchen to be used on Monday, February 10 was small, those unable to make it were advised to send their contributions via mobile money.

Established by Wawira Njiru in 2012, Food 4 Education provides nutritious, heavily subsidised meals for children in various primary schools.

At the moment, the organisation feeds 10,000 schoolchildren on a daily basis in a bid to address poor education outcomes brought about by hunger.

Food 4 Education has set itself the ambitious objective of providing high-quality meals to 1,000,000 children, every school-day, by 2025.

The organisation which started in Ruiru, Kiambu County has also incorporated unique technology to enable seamless access to meals for children.

Pupils are provided with smart NFC wrist-bands tied to a virtual account in which parents top up via mobile money.

Parents pay Ksh15 for the subsidised lunches, and the wrist-bands are scanned in a matter of seconds enabling pupils to easily access nutritious meals.

In appreciation of her work, Njiru was awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Prize for Youth Leadership in 2018 in South Africa.
