On Tuesday, February 18, Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo weighed in former CS Rashid Echesa's Ksh39 billion military weapon scandal, in which Deputy President William Ruto's aides were implicated, asking detectives to grill the DP's daughter, June Ruto, in connection with the scandal.
June is a special envoy in Poland where Echesa allegedly toured to inspect equipment before reportedly swindling Echo Advanced Technologies, an American military supplies company.
Kabogo, however, fell for a photoshopped image, which suggested that Echesa and June had inspected the weapons together. The photoshopped photo purporting that former CS Rashid Echesa and June Ruto met in PolandFile
"Is that lady not a state officer? She should be recalled and be investigated thoroughly," Kabogo suggested via Twitter.
Other Kenyans were swift to notice the fault within the photo, arguing that it was photoshopped.
"Fake picture! Fake news! Fake narrative peddled by fake people with fake names and mostly fake ideologies," one Marvins stated.
"Shows how far people would go just to defame someone..how deep we have sunk," Wanjihia added.
On Facebook, blogger Dennis Itumbi, debunked the photo, juxtaposing the fake image with the original one which did not have Echesa and June Ruto in it.
"The original photo. Post it where the photoshop 'experts' are sharing it," Itumbi asked Kenyans to help stop the fake photos. The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.
