An online influencer's dare went viral sparking a flood of responses from Kenyans on Tuesday, February 18. The user, Waguthi, put out a tweet wondering why no brands had approached her to feature on advertising billboards despite her apparent confidence in her looks.

Choosing not to wait for various corporate brands to respond, creative Kenyans took to Photoshop to plaster Waguthi on all sorts of conceptual billboards, some mirroring popular brands and others just downright hilarious.

"None of you brands want to put me on a Billboard? I promise I look good from whatever angle," Waguthi had posted on 5.40PM on Monday. By the next morning, the influencer's face was all over social media advertising everything from beer to chicken.

In a conversation with Kenyans.co.ke on Tuesday, February 18, Waguthi revealed that she had no prior modelling experience but always harbored the dream of appearing on a billboard.

"No, I don't have a modelling background. Haha. It's just a dream of mine to be on a billboard," she disclosed.

Seemingly surprised by the viral response, Waguthi joked that Kenyans had chosen to actualize her dream before an actual brand sought to work with her.

"Guys just actualized it for me before an actual brand does it," she stated.

By the time of publication, the concept billboards kept pouring in with photos of Waguthi shared across multiple platforms with creators competing to out-do each other with their concept billboards.

It's not the first time a Kenyan girl's wish to be on a billboard has gone viral, either.

In June 2019, Twitter printed out a billboard with a tweet from @Kiritubobo and mounted it in Cannes, France.

The girl had simply tweeted, "One day I'll be on a billboard" along with a praying hands emoji. The billboard was displayed for four days during an event in Cannes.

It was used by Twitter to capture the ability of the platform to amplify voices as the company also put its marketing prowess on show.
