5 Suspects Finally Charged Over Garissa University Attack

Five suspects linked to the Garissa University College terror attack have today Thursday been arraigned in court.

Mohamed Ali Abdikar, Hassan Aden Hassan, Sahal Diriye, Osman Abdi and Rashid Charles who is a Tanzanian national have been charged in a Nairobi court where 162 counts of terrorism have been levelled against them.

However they denied all the counts, with the court ordering they be detained until June 11 when the court will rule on their bail terms.

The prosecution has opposed their release on bail noting that they are suspected Al-Shabaab terrorists and their release may prejudice the trial.

Meanwhile a hearing for the case has been set for August 24 and 25 before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Milimani, The Nation reports.

The suspects are said to have been involved in the April 2, Garissa University attack where 149 lives perished.

The five have been in police custody for the past one month.
