Police in Murang'a County are looking for a priest who served in the Anglican Church of Kenya for allegedly brutally murdering his own son.

According to a report by the Daily Nation, the priest, together with his other son, plotted to discipline his deceased son after they fell out over missing farm produce.

On Saturday, February 22, the cleric called his other son who, according to witnesses, lived a few kilometers away for a special assignment.

The next day morning, the duo proceeded to the house of the deceased who was sleeping, ambushed him and frogmarched him to the priest's homestead where the incident is alleged to have occurred.

When they arrived, they tied him on a tree and allegedly beat him up until he died.

"He pleaded with his assailants not to kill him, I was threatened not to go near the scene or else I would be disciplined too," the paper quoted a source.

"The deceased was social but had issues with his father emanating from a land dispute," added another witness.

The witness had described the victim as a loving person who was also a hardworking farmer.

The priest had served as an evangelist at the ACK Diocese of Mt Kenya Central.

On Sunday, January 5, another cleric caused fear in a church in Mombasa after repeatedly stabbing his wife at the pulpit before ending his own life while a church service was underway.

Elisha Misiko was an assistant pastor at the God's Gospel Ministries in Chembani, Bamburi in Mombasa County.

Kisauni Sub-County Police Commander Julius Kiragu, at the time, confirmed that Misiko stabbed the woman at the back and on the hand before slitting his own throat.

Some of the congregants who were at the church at the time of the murder-suicide claimed that the pastor was aiming for the woman's chest but she managed to block the blade with her hand. She later succumbed to the injuries.
