Migori Town played witness to a strange occurrence as a woman tried to sell her two children on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

Daily Nation reported on Thursday, February 27, that the 23-year-old woman tried to sell her two young daughters, one aged four years and the second, a two-year-old for Ksh 400,000.

The mother of four claimed that she was overwhelmed by the burden of raising children. She had then decided to sell the children to raise enough money to buy a piece of land where she could settle.

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.

The two had been sired by two different men who had abandoned her, forcing the young woman into a corner.

“I have been through difficult situations with these children after siring them with different men. I have decided to sell the young girls for Ksh 400,000 and buy land where I can settle with their male siblings,” stated the woman.

Before making the drastic choice to sell her offspring, the woman had tried to seek assistance from well-wishers to raise them.

When no help was forthcoming, the woman decided to put her daughters up for sale.

“No one seems to welcome me anymore. I lack shelter and I have been living in makeshifts with the children and sometimes going without food. I would be very happy if I get someone to buy my two daughters,” she pleaded.

The woman was promptly arrested by Migori police who found her and her stranger wares.

It is unclear what will happen to her four children while she waits to appear in court.
