A Class 6 pupil in Bungoma County is nursing serious burns after she was set on fire by her father on March 2, 2020.

The class six pupil is alleged to have stolen Ksh20 from her father something that angered him into administering such cruel punishment.

The father Maurice Wabwile, as first reported by K24 TV, who is popularly known as ‘Fundi’ in Kanduyi reportedly tied the young girl's limbs with a sack before setting her on fire.

Her screams alerted neighbors who came to her rescue from what would have been a tragic punishment for a mere Ksh20.

The girl recounted the horror of the punishment saying that she had just come from school when she was confronted by her father.

She added that the father confronted her asking her why she had taken the amount that he had left on the table that morning on March 2.

"He told me that he had lost some Ksh20 and suspected that I had taken it from the table where he left it,” she stated.

Maurice Wabwile then forcefully stuffed her into a sack after tying her up with a rope and lit the fire.

He locked the door of the house on his way out as he left the daughter to burn. It took the intervention of a neighbour who heard the loud cries of the little girl to save her.

The neighbour broke the door of the house before getting into the house to souse the young girl with water that was meant to put out the razing flames.

The girl was rushed to the hospital and she is nursing serious burns. Police are on the hunt of the middle-aged man who fled after the incident.
