Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has now challenged Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to read the whole constitution and understand every bit of the crucial document.

While speaking on K24 TV on Thursday, February 5, ex-senator, also told the DCI to come clean on the progress of graft cases before it is too late. He insisted that there were many loopholes in the probes in the investigations.

"My advice to DCI boss Kinoti is he should read the constitution, that is the first thing. He has to know what the document says because he doesn't," stated Khalwale.

This attack comes days after a report by The Standard, on Wednesday, March 4, explained how Kinoti had taken over Kenya Ports MD Hezron Manduku case himself and bypassed Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji's office.

According to the DPP's office, he only learnt of the arrest through the media, as DCI officers claimed that they were frustrated by Haji because files which dated back to April 2019 still lay at his office.

Khalwale also poked into Kinoti's use of social media. He claimed his social media activity was one of the reasons why he had not been successful in the fight against graft.

"The second thing he should do is pull down his Twitter handle," the former senator advised.

Khalwale, who is now a strong supporter of Deputy President William Ruto explained that Kinoti was obsessed with social publicity.

He had turned DCI's Twitter handle into the official communication channels whenever he wants to make any arrest.

Khalwale criticised DCI's Twitter activity as cheap publicity that cannot be accepted in one of Kenya's highest and most powerful offices.

"The moment he starts a case he's in the habit of posting it on his Twitter handle. He is in the habit of rushing to the Twitter handle the moment he starts a case...I am looking for so and so, I am arresting...Why is he doing investigations on social media? It is not helping him at all," he challenged.

"The DCI boss has in the past, evidently demonstrated selective investigations in some cases. This has to stop," Khalwale concluded.

The Senate Justice and Legal Affairs Committee has summoned DPP Haji, DCI Kinoti and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai following a standoff between the DCI and DPP in court on March 3 that now threatens the war on graft.
