Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has been flown back to Kenya nearly a month after he was involved in a tragic road accident en route to the burial of former President Daniel arap Moi.

As first reported by the Daily Nation, who spoke to his aide, the CS without portfolio returned from the UK where he had been flown for specialised treatment after the horrific accident.

The CS was involved in  a grisly accident where he sustained serious injuries including broken ribs on his right side which resulted in breathing difficulties.

He also had a slight injury on his intestines which led to internal bleeding.

“Multi-trauma patients have to be assessed thoroughly because accidents can cause internal bleeding and that is why he is likely to be in the hospital for a while,” Daily Nation quoted a doctor.

When his condition worsened, the CS was airlifted to the UK on Thursday, February 20, following President Uhuru Kenyatta's orders.

Through a statement by Jubilee Party Communications Director Albert Memusi at the time, the family had arrived at the decision following consultations with the doctors.

The Cabinet Secretary without portfolio had been recuperating at the Karen Hospital following his accident on Wednesday, February 12.

In an earlier presser, former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe had promised Tuju's return highlighting that he was in good shape and he would be back to steer the ruling party.

“Our Party’s Secretary-General Raphael Tuju is in London and he will be back on Wednesday next week. Tuju is already well now and is fully recovered from the injuries," Murathe had intimated.

Tuju got into the grisly accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway when his car got involved in a head-on collision with a matatu at Magina.

Reports indicated that the accident happened as the matatu tried going past a saloon car along the road when it hit Tuju’s vehicle.
