Footage has emerged of a daring robbery that took place on Sunday, March 8, in Old Town, Mombasa.

CCTV placed in an alley outside a building captured two thugs as they pounced on a man who was busy talking on his phone at 3:49 p.m.

One of the robbers appears to remove a weapon from his back pocket, going on to hold it against the victim's neck as his partner forcefully stripped the victim of his valuables.

One of the muggers was donning a black vest and a dark blue cap while his accomplice was in a brown t-shirt and a black cap.

The two seemingly avoided looking up at the camera as they took their time on their victim, with the footage showing that the entire incident lasted an entire minute.

Interestingly, an unidentified man walked into the frame of the footage as the robbers were busy relieving him of his belongings.

The stranger -who wore a brown kanzu, has a snack in his hand which he munched away while watching the entire robbery.

He then moves on and enters a green and white building that appears to be a mosque for the 4 p.m. prayers.

Once the robbers ran away, the victim is seen clinging on to the left side of his shoulder -the very spot one of the robbers had placed his weapon.

The dazed victim walks over towards the mosque-like building as another man in a kanzu and makes his way inside, completely ignoring the cries of help.

Located on the South-East side of Mombasa Island, Old Town is a world-class destination frequented by international tourists.

It hosts the famous Fort Jesus, declared a World Heritage site by Unesco in 2011, and it comprises of narrow streets and alleys, with building designs influenced by Mombasa’s trade culture.

However, the vices of the area made the headlines back in 2014, with the area developing a bad reputation after a series of attacks on tourists.
