Jubilee Party Secretary Raphael Tuju has been tested for coronavirus after doctors visited his home.

In a statement released on March 27, the party announced that the SG had undergone testing due to pressure from the public and the media after he returned from the UK for treatment.

"The Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju went through the test for the Coronavirus disease yesterday, the 26th of March, 2020," the statement read in part.

The tests turned out negative, much to the relief of the CS who is recovering from a road accident.

"I praise God for taking care of me when I was in hospital in the UK, where the virus has been more endemic.

"Even though it is more than 20 days since I got back from the UK, and besides the fact that I did not exhibit any symptoms associated with the Coronavirus, it was an imperative that I go through this test," remarked the SG on receiving the results.

Tuju further added that he had been taking the necessary precautions to ensure that he protected himself as advised by the government, but that pressure had been mounting from many quarters to have him tested.

"I have been exercising social distancing and all the other behavioral practices as prescribed by the Ministry of Health, but in the face of media reports and narratives on social media, it has been a matter of public interest that I voluntarily submit myself to be tested and thankfully the results are negative.

That should clear the air and bring closure to the concerns and anxiety associated with my stay in the UK or encounters with other Kenyans since my return to Kenya"  the SG said in conclusion.

The party further informed Kenyans that the CS was recovering in a satisfactory manner from the near-tragic accident he was involved in on the way to Mzee Moi's funeral on February 12, 2020.

"He is sticking to a supervised exercise regime and physiotherapy sessions conducted by professionals from the Karen hospital," the statement concluded.
