As of March 27, there were 31 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Kenya. The government has been implementing a raft of measures aimed at combating its spread with the very latest being a curfew that takes effect on March 27, 7 pm to 5 am. Countrywide there has been anxiety about the disease and the economic effects of measures taken by the government to curtail an outbreak.

K24 Daily Brief news anchors Shiksha Arora and Paul Mbuvi surprised viewers after reading the 1 pm news brief on March 27, when they hit the floor and broke into a dance to some afro beats.

 

“This week has been super stressful & so we decided to do some unwinding on air with my co-host Mungala Mbuvi”, said the K24 anchor Shiksha Arora in a tweet.

Netizens were captivated by the dance with some expressing their joy and amusement. 

“I’m happy and thankful you’ve brought some light in this dark moment. We love you, and please be safe”, remarked one viewer.

While another was amazed by the duos dance talents.

Shiksha, a rising star in Kenya television, was also keen to remind her fans to be home before the 7 pm curfew and avoid getting in trouble with law enforcement agencies. 

"Remember to beat the curfew and be home before 7 PM today", she said.

The dusk to dawn curfew announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta was in response to Kenyans not adhering to measures put out by the government to encourage social distancing which is a key way to avoid the virus spreading according to health experts. 

CS Mutahi Kagwe who has in recent times expressed his frustration at Kenyan citizens not taking the government measures to curb the Covid-19 spread seriously. He stated the curfew would continue indefinitely.
