Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has revealed his intention to return to work as soon as possible following remarkable progress in recovery.

The Cabinet Secretary without portfolio has been out of action since suffering a horrific accident along the Nairobi Nakuru Highway on February 12, 2020, that left him with severe injuries.

The CS had suffered 13 broken ribs and head injuries and at some point was flown to the UK for specialised treatment.

In an interview with Daily Nation on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Tuju revealed that he had made great progress in terms of recovery. He stated that by the grace of God and the support of very dedicated professionals at the Karen hospital, he would be able to soon resume his duties.

"The therapy is tough and painful, but I am doing my best. I leave the rest to God," Tuju stated.

"At the current rate of improvement and if God allows, I should be back to work next week," the CS pronounced.

He, however, did not spill out his first order of business, but with the terms of interim Jubilee party officials coming to a close in March 2020, he is expected to organise the party's elections.

The publication reported that Tuju is expected to be faced with an uphill task, following the existing and widely publicised rift between leaders in the party.

Tuju who returned from the UK on March 7, 2020, last week took a Covid-19 test due to the UK being among the countries affected by the pandemic. The CS tested negative for the virus and urged Kenyans to be cautious.

"The results from the ministry were good. I praise God for taking care of me when I was in the UK," Tuju stated, further advising members of the public to take the pandemic seriously.
