Vocal politician Stephen Kinuthia, popularly known as Wamother or the Duke of Githunguri, shared a video from his hospital bed in France.

In the video that surfaced online on Sunday, April 5, the man who had his eyes on the Githunguri parliamentary seat back in 2017, revealed that he was in isolation and in recovery after contracting the coronavirus.

"If  I wasn't brought to this hospital I would definitely be dead and that's a fact,

One thing I can tell Kenyans is that this thing is real," he stated in between visibly painful coughs.

He then went on to explain that he was now depending on tubes to deliver life-giving oxygen to his lungs, as the virus made it impossible for him to breathe normally.

"If they remove these oxygen tubes, my condition would deteriorate at once," he revealed.

The politician took pauses in between some of his statements and went on to explain that he had some trouble speaking due to the oxygen being pumped into his body.

Wamother reiterated the need for Kenyans to exercise caution whenever they went out especially to crowded areas, explaining that it was quite easy to contract the virus.

"Don't go with the 'this thing is just for the Chinese' mentality and that Africans can't contract it, that's just stupidity,

"This disease does not discriminate between African, Europeans, rich, poor nor a particular age group. Please take precautions, this is serious, I'd be dead by now," he warned.

He then assured his friends and family that he was doing much better and put on his bravest face between bouts of coughs.

Latest data shows France has 89,953 confirmed cases, 14,008 recoveries, and 7,560 deaths.

The Kenyan government on April 2, announced that it was in the process of finalizing stiffer measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus after the total number of confirmed cases went past the 100-mark.

"The situation in Kenya is not getting any better. It is not a joke, you don't have to wait to hear of the death of someone you know to believe the virus is real. This is a very serious threat to our lives and to our nation, the numbers will rise,

"Fellow Kenyans, I do not want to scare you, but with the figures I have just read to you, the number is likely to rise and rise exponentially," Health Cabinet Secretary announced.
