A woman was on Wednesday afternoon picked up by medical officers following a mix up in lab results after being released from quarantine a day earlier.
The woman had jetted into the country on Tuesday, March 24 and was checked into a quarantine facility in Nairobi.
After Coronavirus tests, all the people quarantined in the facility turned out to be negative and were discharged on Tuesday, April 6.
The quarantined persons were advised by health officials to self-isolate for a further seven days before they could interact freely with their family members.
The woman in question was however picked up by an ambulance on Wednesday afternoon following an explanation that lab results had been mixed up.
Once the results are out and are confirmed that they are negative the persons who were picked up will be allowed to return home.
This comes after the Ministry of Health extended quarantine period by another 14 days following Kenyans and foreigners who had been in quarantine centres tested positive Covid-19.
In the Ministry of Health's daily briefing on Wednesday, April 8, Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi, admitted that a bulk of the positive cases are from quarantine areas.
"Most of our positive cases are cases that are emanating from quarantine areas and we do maintain that indeed the measures of putting in place quarantine has actually protected the 47 million Kenyans within the country.
"What however we are doing is to extend quarantine in different facilities, we have a set criterion where outfield medical teams are employing an assessment tool to be able to determine which centres were able to adhere to the quarantine measures."
There have been reported cases of quarantined persons failing to adhere to government directives especially one on maintaining social distance as they have resorted to partying.
As of Wednesday, April 7, the country had reported a total number of 179 positive cases, nine recoveries and six fatalities.
