Joyce Wangeci has revealed how people partied in a quarantine centre in Karen, Nairobi and also opened up on her journey through isolation.

Wangeci arrived in the country from Madrid, Spain and narrated her ordeal from the moment she arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to her days in quarantine.

Writing on Daily Nation, Wangeci revealed how people in quarantine resorted to partying, "Come evening, the parties began! Apparently, there was enough alcohol to open a club in the camp. I was so disappointed.

"I locked myself in my room and started reading some Daily Bread booklet. I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t want to speak on the phone.

Still outside there were young people dancing…there was blaring music! How now? Did these youngsters forget why we were here?"

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, while addressing the nation on Saturday, April 4, revealed that some of the Kenyans in quarantine ignored social distancing as they partied.

"As I said, there are those who went on partying sprees in quarantine facilities. This is against every protocol that we have issued.

"But in a bid to further contain any further transmission arising from those in mandatory quarantine we have instructed our medical teams to extend quarantine period of those in facilities."

"We believe we have got individuals who need another 14 days given the fact that the contacts they have within the quarantine facilities have tested positive."

Wangeci went on to reveal the hiked hotel prices that they were to select upon arrival at the airport with some charging 70 dollars and 40 dollars a night.

The lady also opened up on the dangers they were exposed to in the quarantine centres with the caterers having no masks, nor gloves.

In quarantine, they were also not able to maintain social distancing because they had common wash areas and eating spaces. No written rules and medical personnel were assigned to them.
