Tusker Mattresses Limited on Tuesday, April 21, announced it would temporarily shut down its Tuskys Supermarket branches in Nairobi, Kitale and Mombasa.
A statement signed by the company's chairman, Benard Kahianyu, stated that the supermarkets would be consolidated to help in protecting the customers in more spacious locations.
"We have noted that in some areas where we have multiple locations close to each other, we can adequately serve customers better and more efficiently by consolidating our businesses in spacious businesses that allow us to implement social distancing and personal hygiene measures better," part of the statement read.
The three branches that will be shut down are; Tuskys Tom Mboya branch, Tuskys Kitale Mega and Tuskys Digo road.
"Tuskys Tom Mboya branch customers will be served from Tuskys Imara which is 100m away on the same street.
"Tusky Kitale Mega branch customers will be served from Tusky Kitale CBD branch within the same town.
"Tuskys Digo Road branch customers will be served from Tuskys Bandari, which is 500m away along Haile Selassie Road Mombasa," read the statement.
Further, the chairman noted that the move would ensure that the social distancing directive was followed.
Kahianyu assured the customers that the normal prices of products would be maintained.
