Popular Gospel Musician Eko Dydda's Tuesday, April 22, interview on Citizen TV did not go as smoothly as planned after his phone got taken away during a live bulletin.

Citizen TV had contacted the musician who was under mandatory quarantine to give his side of a story following an uproar over his arrest.

The musician had shed light on malpractices by police officers enforcing the curfew that he had been subjected to including being coerced to give a bribe.

At some point during the live phone interview from Kilimani Police Station where he had been taken to after 50 people escaped from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), Nairobi, a commotion is heard with a male voice ordering the musician to hand over his phone.

"Eko Dydda, leta hiyo simu (hand me that phone)," the man is heard ordering Dydda before a brief argument ensues.

Later on, in the show, the host Waihiga Mwaura apologises for the incident disclosing that the broadcaster had attempted to reach him again but it was futile.

"We have been trying to reach Eko Dydda, remember we were speaking to him earlier on and it seems his phone has been taken away. When we reach him, we shall let you know," stated Mwaura.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Dydda's wife, Cynthia Ayugi, noted that since the interview, her husband's phone had been switched off.

"I have not reached him (since his interview last night). His phone has been off. I believe he is doing fine," she stated.

Before the interview was cut short, the singer disclosed that all the people who were under quarantine at KMTC, Naiobi had been transferred back to police stations.

"I am not sure why, but each person has been moved to the station where they came from. Right now, I am at Kilimani.

"I had gone for medication for my wife and by bad luck, I had issues with my car and so I did not get home in time. My car was towed and taken to Kilimani Police Station," Dydda recounted.

Dydda was arrested on the night of Saturday, April 18, while headed home after fetching his wife's medicine.
