The drama surrounding the ruling party, Jubilee, took a new twist on Monday, May 11, following a scathing statement issued by Bahati MP, Kimani Ngunjiri.

Responding to the announcement that party leader Uhuru Kenyatta had called for a Jubilee Senate Parliamentary Group meeting at State House, Ngunjiri claimed that the entire agenda was to set a stage for the president's friends to be rewarded and his detractors reprimanded.

"Francis Atwoli is positioning the Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja who is his relative as a replacement for Susan Kihika as Chief Whip. An outsider is now dictating how Jubilee is to be overseen as a family affair,

"Jubilee was a party for all and one that wouldn’t discriminate, but what is happening now is very clear that the people have been right all along. It is the dynasty versus hustlers," the MP's statement reads in part.

Back in 2017, the COTU Secretary-General asked Nairobians to elect his 'son' Johnson Sakaja as their next senator.

"I am telling you Sakaja has been raised in my house together with my children. He is my son. Therefore my vote will be cast for him, and so will his mother. And for you Nairobians, I am pleading with you to please vote for him," he stated at the time.

Ngunjiri also berated President Uhuru for abandoning what he termed as the team that put him in power and warned his party leader over his impending fall.

"I want to remind the President that his gameplan is wrong. It is mistaken based on one, the way he became the President.

"Even if it is being Machiavellian, some of the things we have seen today, we can rightly conclude that they come from a prince who lacks the valour and foresight to protect and preserve what he acquired, but anyway, what would you expect from a prince who had an easy ride to the throne?" his statement further reads.

He then turned his attention to the recent evictions of thousands of families in Kariobangi and warned his party leader of probable repercussions from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

"This forceful eviction of people from their homes on land that had been legally allocated to them by the government is a crime against humanity and the reason I am reminding the President all the time that ICC is watching," he warned.

"Many people including children have been exposed to conditions that make them very vulnerable to Covid-19. Any loss of life arising from this, the President will be personally liable and not CS Fred Matiang’i and PS Karanja Kibicho. We are aware that these two are abusing their offices and are busy amassing wealth," he alleged.

The Bahati MP then urged the president to reconsider his current stance before it was too late, adding that since they put him in power, they still stood firmly behind him if he rectified his 'wayward' ways.

He claimed that the end was fast approaching and that the president would regret being misled and abandoning his own house

"I advise that he should stay where he belongs. We campaigned for you the President, we voted for you, we are for you," Ngunjiri stated.

Following the signing of the coalition agreement with the Kenya African National Union (KANU), Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchmba Murkomen was replaced by Wes Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio as the Senate Majority Leader.

Contrary to Ngunjiri's predictions, Susan Kihika was replaced by Senator Irungu Kang'ata as the Senate Majority Whip and not Johnson Sakaja.
