A fed-up mother by the name Susan Wangui has astonished many after she testified that her son, Derick Ndung'u, was a criminal following his death.
Wangui, who was speaking to the media on Wednesday, May 13, stated that her son had been killed by a mob after he stole a phone.
On Tuesday evening, Wangui stated she and her son were in the house when he received a phone call and lied that it was his girlfriend who had contacted him.
It is then that he headed out, only for his mother to be contacted hours later to be told that Ndung'u had been stoned by a mob to death.
"When I got to the scene, the boda boda riders told me that he had just stolen a phone from a woman who was selling eggs and that is what led to him being stoned.
"He does not live in my house. He has rented a house. He refused to live with me because he knows that I do not tolerate his habits," a visibly angered mother stated.
The mother narrated that his nineteen-year-old son completed his Form Four studies in 2018 but had refused to work and had instead resulted to becoming a criminal.
"I have educated him, taken him to driving school after his studies. When he was done with the driving school, I set up a shop for him and asked him to work there but he refused.
"I asked him to work in an electronics shop, he refused to do that as well. I told him to work to join construction work because I have people who work for me, he refused and said that it was too difficult for him," Wangui narrated.
The bitter mother disclosed that it was not the first time her son had been caught stealing.
"There's a time I called the police on him after residents came to report that he had stolen. I called the police on him and he was arrested and taken to jail.
"His aunties and grandmother pleaded with me after he had stayed in jail for three months and he was taken out on half a million bond. When he was released, I asked him what work he wanted to do and he said he didn't want any sort of work. My son was a thief, I know he is a thief," he continued.
Wangui warned youth engaging in theft that they would surely and eventually meet her son's fate if they did not change their habits.
