Health CAS Rashid Aman on Wednesday, June 3, announced that 54 individuals had been discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of those who had recovered to 553.
“I want to pay tribute to our health workers. While celebrating the success, I want to reiterate the importance of observing the containment measures,” Aman stated.
Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House, the CAS added that 123 individuals had tested positive in the same period of time after 2,112 samples were tested.
The total number of Covid-19 recorded in the country now stands at 2,216.
At the same time, three patients succumbed to the disease bringing the number of fatalities to 74.
The youngest was a 12-year-old boy who was discovered to be positive posthumously while the other two were 41 years and 84 years respectively
Distribution of cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi (44), Mombasa (34), Busia (20), Uasin Gishu (12), Kiambu (3), Kajiado (3), Nyeri (3), Kilifi (2) while Garissa and Laikipia recorded one case each.
The distribution of cases in sub-counties is as follows; Kibra (10), Westlands (9), Dagoretti (4), Embakasi West (4), Embakasi South (3), Lang’ata (3), Makadara (3), Mathare (3), Kasarani 3, Ruaraka (1), Kamukunji (1), Mvita (11), Jomvu (8), Chamgamwe (5), Likoni (4), Kisauni (3) and Nyali (3).
90 of the cases reported are male and 33 are female while the age distribution is between 8 to 84 years.
Aman complained that majority of Kenyans were going about their normal lives, oblivious of the dangers of contracting the Covid-19 disease.
He warned Kenyans who are wearing their masks below their chin and flaunting social distancing rules.
“I am sure that you have seen some video clips on social media showing people crowding in such places throwing all caution to the wind. This is flirting with danger,” he warned.
