Following the closure of churches across the country, some Kenyans have turned Ngong Forest into their new place of worship.
Kenyans have been forced to seek alternative places of worship with others praying from home or following sermons online.
Pastor Edwin Ochapa who also doubles as a teacher, is one of the worshippers who made Ngong forest their new church.
The pastor opened up on the tough times brought about by the pandemic and encouraged Kenyans that it would soon come to an end.
"Regardless of what has been happening, what is looming in the country and the whole world extensively, I'm still grateful because above everything I'm alive and I know that there is nothing that can stop me.
"I follow the scripture, what the Bible says in the book of Isaiah 40:8 that everything will come to end, the flowers will fade and the grass will wither but the name of the Lord will live forever," he noted.
In the video, a number of worshippers are seen praying in the forest with others carrying a mat to cushion their knees while the kneel down in prayer.
During a press conference on Sunday, March 15, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed Kenyans to avoid congregating in places of worship in a bid to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Ochapa called upon the government to continue offering a helping hand to Kenyans during these uncertain times that have forced some into stealing, to make ends meet.
"We are urging the government to continue supporting us and we know that it's just a season. We live by faith we don't live by knowledge but we live by faith and we know that God is above everything.
"We are still interceding for the nation, we are interceding for our families, it is a tough time. Trials and tribulations are coming because even people who have been earning something are not earning anymore and they are even turning to stealing," explained the pastor.
Uhuru on Monday, June 1, announced that he had directed Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Health CS Mutahi Kagwe to hasten talks with religious leaders, that would see churches resume.
