Narok Senator Ledama Olekina distanced himself from the reports that he has joined forces with Deputy President William Ruto.
A tweet from a parody account went viral on Thursday, June 11, claiming that the Senator had decamped to Tanga Tanga.
"A new dawn has come! I have finally made my decision to support the incoming 5th President of the Republic of Kenya H.E William Ruto. The hustler's nation is indeed unstoppable!" read the tweet from the fake account.
Olekina came clean rubbishing the fake account then went ahead to debunk the user name, posting screenshots of the twitter handle.
"Please note that the following is a FAKE account. The fraudsters thought they are very cleaver. They used a capital I in place of an L.
"So when you look at the handle you think it’s the real one! We will deal with them today! compare with the real account below," wrote Olekina on his legit account.
The parody account went on to post a message to create an impression that it was the official account as it urged the public to ignore fake accounts.
"It has come to my attention that some malicious characters are running fake Twitter accounts masquerading & tweeting like me. Kindly ignore such fake accounts," read a tweet from the parody.
Olekina went on to post a new profile picture on his official Twitter handle to make some distinction from the fake account but it was soon replicated by the user of the parody account.
The parody of Olekina's account appears to be run by someone who closely monitors the Senator's account as they Tweet similar posts.
"We are focused on the unity of the Maa Nation. We thank Raila Odinga for welcoming Hon. Sarah Lekorere back home."
The above statement was a tweet posted by the Olekina and replicated on the fake parody account and interestingly they were posted at the exact same time on Wednesday, June 10.
