A group of three ladies has left many Kenyans impressed thanks to their online mama mboga service which has attracted increased attention during the Covid-19 period.
Their days begin with early mornings at markets where they pick up large quantities of various fruits and vegetables.
They then set out to service orders they receive through their online and social media platforms, making deliveries across the city.
Based in Kabete, their innovative venture has gained more clients during the Covid-19 pandemic as many people are home due to various restrictions.
One of the group's members, Pillie, on Saturday, June 20 told journalists how they initially faced major losses after establishing the business known as Eazy Pizi Fruits and Veggies.
"It wasn't as great or as lucrative as we thought it would be. Actually we made a huge amount of losses the first time we started out.
"But we kept on going and decided to be the people who buy from farmers and connect them with consumers," she noted.
The operation has also earned plaudits for creative use of digital content to promote healthy living alongside their services.
The business regularly shares videos of a trained nutritionist offering advice on various issues around food and health.
By tying into people's lives and engaging with customers after the purchase, they have been able to build a growing list of loyal clients.
They also offer innovative packages called baskets in which they bundle various vegetables and fruits together to make them more affordable.
They revealed, however, that one of the challenges they face is not being taken seriously by other stakeholders due to their age.
Various challenges at the market, for example, affect their ability to make deliveries to various customers on time.
