Former K24 TV anchor Nancy Onyancha officially started her new job as Switch TV's Managing Editor, Kiswahili on Monday, July 6, Kenyans.co.ke can confirm.

A source close to the celebrated anchor intimated to this writer that Onyancha had received the offer from the station on Monday, June 22, the same day she was dismissed by her previous employer.

He further noted that after considering several other offers, Onyancha signed her contract with Switch TV on Friday, July 4.

"She is starting today. They contacted her the same day she was fired. They have been negotiating on several issues but they agreed last week on Thursday so she signed the contract on Friday. Today is her first day at work," he stated.

A representative from Switch TV confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that Onyancha, who will double up as an English anchor, had reported for duty and had proceeded to a meeting with her to lay down her new role at the station.

This new development comes after an unceremonious firing in which Onyancha was among hundreds who were shown the door when the Mediamax Network Limited-owned station sent everyone home sparing only two people.

A few days after the firing, Onyancha, in the company of her husband, launched an own media companySauti Tajika Productions.

"At Sauti Tajika, we cover TV and online commercials, documentaries, event coverage, and voice-overs," Mwaura stated on Saturday, June 27.

Joab and Nancy incorporated Sauti Tajika Production Company in 2014 as a business that would generate extra income. The company has since taken on major projects including serving Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

The two, who were serving as editors at K24 TVwere sacked after opposing the 50% pay cut the company had imposed on them.

Others who were shown the door included news anchors Sam Njoroge, Rose Gakuo, Fred Indimuli, Eric Njoka, Karen Karimi, Isabella Kituri, Caren Kibett, Shon Osimbo, Sara Adams, Joy Kariuki and Tony Khwalanda.
