Kartelo Unveils New Radio Station in Meeting With DP Ruto [VIDEO]

  • Fast-rising Kenyan comedian Nick Chege alias Kartelo on Thursday, July 9 unveiled his online Radio Station while meeting Deputy President William Ruto.

    Ruto was at his home in Karen, Nairobi where he continued with his weekly empowerment program for youths in the capital.

    Kartelo made an appearance alongside comedian Mwasia Mutua, popularly known as Chipukeezy, and unveiled his station.

    "We have come up with a radio for the youth, we want to create a media station dedicated to the youth, you know we have a lot of energy, we just want to focus on art, singing and acting," he announced.

    "We have created something called Rieng Radio, we keep on updating people on what's trending, the numbers are okay, the last month we gathered 700,000 online streams," noted Kartelo.

    So far the comedian has had 11 shows on Reing Radio that have been posted on his YouTube Channel and has amassed over 25,000 subscribers on the platform.

    Ruto met youths from Westlands, Kasarani, Embakasi East and Kamkunji constituencies and supported them with carts, wheelbarrows, power generators, screen printing equipment, water tanks, and salon equipment.

    The Deputy President also emphasized on recognition of micro, small and medium-sized businesses as central forces of innovation, job creation, and economic growth in the country.

    Kartelo also opened up on his struggles with drug abuse and shared a short story of his journey on starting out with comedy.

    "I was a drug addict, even my MP knows that after I became an artist the crime rate in Kayole reduced. After starting comedy I found myself working with Chipukeezy because of God and started doing the Chipukeezy Show," he explained.
