Revered actor Charles Bukeko popularly known as Papa Shirandula was laid to rest at Nanderema, Funyula in Busia County on Monday, July 20.

Bukeko died on the morning of Saturday, July 18, with the family noting that he faced sudden breathing complications before being rushed to Karen Hospital where he passed on.

His body was placed in a black casket before being loaded into the hearse in what was Bukeko's final journey.

Representatives from the Royal Media Services (RMS) as well as his friends and colleagues attended his final journey that was monitored by police as well as medical personnel.

8:40 a.m.: Papa Shirandula is buried.

8:31 a.m.: Busia County Assembly speaker sent his condolences to the family of the deceased.

8:30 a.m.: AFC Leopard hailed Bukeko as a very important fan that would not have missed any of the team's matches even outside the country.

8:24 a.m.: "I was shocked by his death because Papa was more than a colleague, he was a friend and neighbour. It will take me time to accept that Papa has left us," Jacky Nyaminde alias Wilbroda stated. 

8:23 a.m.: "Mr Charles Bukeko changed my life. All I have done in my life is because of Bukeko and I used to thank him for the opportunity. We worked together and even became a family. May You Rest in Peace, I will miss you," Jacky Vike alias Awinja Nyamwalo stated. 

8:20 a.m.: William Juma better-known as Juma Anderson in Papa Sirandula asked friends and family of the deceased to support his young family.

8:19 a.m.: Mshamba Zebedayo eulogised Papa Shirandula as a mentor and disclosed that he got his idea of his show from working with him

7:30 a.m.: Susan Kisaka representing National Housing Corporation where Papa Shirandula's wife, Beatrice Adega, worked, praised her for being a hardworking individual. She noted that Papa Shirandula met his wife during one of the corporation's events. The corporation promised to support the widow including educating her children.

"For now l cannot say anything about his illness until we sit with the hospital. I'll travel to Nairobi and together with his wife, we shall engage a lawyer to get proper information from the hospital," disclosed his father Cosmas Bukeko while refuting that his son died from Covid-19.

"When he went to hospital, he requested for three tests of malaria, pneumonia and Covid-19 but the hospital concentrated only on Covid and ignored the rest," his wife Beatrice claimed that the hospital had delayed in attending to him.
