Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, July 30 while attending the funeral of Reverend Peter Kania revealed that his wish was granted.
Also in attendance was Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe and a number of people to bid farewell to the departed reverend who succumbed to Covid-19 complications.
Before embarking on his speech, Ruto revealed that it was his wish to sing a hymn and was delighted to have found it in the funeral program.
"Today morning when I woke up, I really wished to get the opportunity to sing a song titled Bwana U Sehemu Yangu, I did not know that the opportunity would come in this gathering.
"I see it is already in the program if you could extend to me your grace to sing this song for our departed brother Peter," noted Ruto.
The Deputy President apologised for arriving late to the function noting that it is unlike his character to arrive into functions late as he previously had a function that could not be postponed.
Ruto and Peter Kania knew each other for some time before his untimely death and shared a lot of similarities aside from being of the same age group.
Kania was ordained as a Minister back in 1997 when Ruto was first elected as the Eldoret North Member of Parliament.
Ruto eulogised Kania as a great faith warrior and mourned with the family of the reverend insisting that the country had lost a gem.
"I've heard him preach and I can say without fear of contradiction that Peter Kania was a great church leader, he was a great faith warrior and a National intercessor.
"As we celebrate his life, I know his dear wife is here and his wonderful children, you have lost a great father but this nation has lost a great faith warrior," noted Ruto.
Ruto revealed that in a conversation with President Uhuru Kenyatta he was reminded of the many times Kania has prayed for the nation.
