"We saw it best to bring him on board to help in the marketing side of the club, Maina will assist in the selling of club merchandise. It is one avenue that is supposed to bring revenue to the club but has not been exploited.

"He will also assist to drive fans into the stadium when sports resume and he will also help to bring other sponsors on board," noted Kimani.

The coach who played for Leopards and Harambee Stars during his heydays added that the team's performance will be key in determining the success of the partnership.

Maina encouraged the team to post better results to make it easier to negotiate for better deals with sponsors as the club aims to turn a new leaf in the local scene.

The radio presenter is an ardent football fan and is known to be a keen supporter of Manchester United, often traveling to England to watch their games.

Kimani, however, noted that fans should not expect Maina regularly in the stadium as he usually operates under a tight schedule.

"We do not expect him to attend all the games, whenever he is free he will make time to come to the stadium to support the team," explained Kimani.

Maina and Kimani have a long history dating back to 10 years having worked together at Radio Africa with the coach revealing that he has been a huge pivot in his career.

Since AFC Leopards elected Dan Shikanda as the chairman, the club has been looking to regain its past glory as they are set to unveil a club store and have improved on their merchandising.
