Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kenya Quarry and Mine Workers Union C.E.O Wafula Musami was not aware of the incident at the time of publishing the article.

"We have no information about the incident yet maybe they are not our members, we cannot do much about the collapse of quarries that are not registered under us.

"There are so many quarries without employers or representatives, as a union to ensure quarries are safe we educate employers and tell the government to put mechanism in place to thwart collapse of quarries," he explained.

Residents, quarry workers and police are combing the area to ascertain no bodies are left trapped in the debris.

The four who were injured in the incident were rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital for treatment.

Gory images of the workers who were trapped in the lorry surfaced on social media as those nearby tried to rescue the quarry workers.

The three who died had collect stones when heavy rains pounded the area and forced them to seek shelter under the rocks.
