Garissa Cases Surge as 179 Test Positive for Covid-19

Kenya has recorded 179 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 34,884.  

During the daily Covid-19 briefing in Bomet County on Friday, September 4, Health CAS Rashid Aman announced that 4,178 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 467,677.

Of the positive cases, 162 are Kenyans while 17 are foreigners.

126 are male and 53 are female while the youngest case is a 1-year-old and the oldest is aged 75.

At the same time, 415 patients were discharged, 161 from home-based care and 254 from hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 21,059.

Regrettably, four patients succumbed to the disease bring the total number of deaths to 589.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi leads with 66 cases followed by Garissa with 21, Turkana 12, Nakuru 12, Busia 11, Taita Taveta 10, Kiambu 9, Kitui 6, Kisumu 5.

Kajiado, Machakos, Kericho, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia counties recorded three cases each.

Kisii, Mombasa, Laikipia and Nyeri each had two cases each while Kilifi, Baringo and Uasin Gishu counties had one case each.
