Additionally, Safaricom indicated that all other M-PESA services including sending money, deposits, withdrawal and other services like calls, data and SMS, would remain available as usual.

The timing of this maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least inconvenience to our customers," reads an excerpt of the statement.

The service provider further apologised to its customers in case of any inconvenience that may be caused during the maintenance period.

The telecommunications station has been upgrading its services and introducing new features to satisfy its over 30 million subscriber base.

In August Safaricom introduced a new feature on the web app to enable its users to track airtime and data usage on various apps.

My airtime usage on the web app is a new feature that enables the user to track how much airtime one has used within a specific period in detail.

The feature can also reveal how much one has spent on calls, SMS and on subscriptions with one also able to view the date and time of a call, the duration, and the amount charged for the call.

On September 10, the company rolled out all its M-PESA services on the *334# menu.

The telecommunications firm revealed that the new menu targeted non-smartphone users by consolidating all mobile money services in a single, easy to use menu with more flexibility than is possible on the current SIM toolkit menu.
