Business mogul Chris Kirubi or CK as his close associates refer to him, needs little introduction. However, his daughter Maryann Musangi has managed to steer clear from the public despite being in charge of her father's prized asset, Haco Industries.
"MaryAnne is exceptional. The only challenge is that maybe she doesn't fear me, unlike other employees," he stated before bursting into laughter, "She is now the Managing Director at Haco Industries and I have to say that she is very smart and dedicated to work. I am very lucky as she is very much like me," he added with the tone of a proud father
Speaking to comedian Churchill in a tell-all interview that was aired on Sunday, September 20, Kirubi opened up and shared tips from his remarkable journey.
The two engaged in a candid conversation at Kirubi's home; the manicured lawn and freshy tweezed flowers that masked his mansion at the back was had to miss.
A young man approached the two and served them with a glass of water and juice.
As it turns out, the young man was Brian Mwau, a Makueni resident who had 'charmed' his way to Kirubi's heart as he put it.
Mwau had purposed to work for the mogul and 'no' was simply not an option for him.
"He charmed my security guards and just walked up to my door and rang the bell. I was confused when I saw him. However, by the end of our conversation, my mind was made up and I hired him there and then," he recalled.
Mwau's story best captures Kirubi's way of doing business. He prides himself in investing in young people who are hungry and willing to go the extra mile to succeed.
Kirubi's son, Robert is based in Brussels where he works at DHL, and going by his father's description, he seems to have secured himself a top job.
"He is doing so well out there that each time I have offered him a job here, he always says that the earnings are a joke," he said, with the aura of a father whose children are leaving their mark on the world, in their own way.
Kirubi's story is one of hardwork and sacrifice as he puts it, having had to learn to look after his sibling from, a very young age, after they lost both their parents.
Centum Group CEO James Mworia best captured the essence of CK.
"There's nobody better to face a challenge with than him, because of the courage and conviction he has, coupled with optimism and a very positive mindset.
"Chris is a man who never feels sorry for himself, he always lives in the present. I have never heard him complain about anything," Mworia revealed.
Unknown to most, the Centum CEO started out as an intern at the firm, and worked his way up, with CK there as a father/mentor figure to offer his expert advice to the man who rose to become one of Kenya's top CEO's.
Just before they wrapped up the interview, CK showed off his Deejaying skills.
