A Kisii legislator aligned with Deputy President William Ruto reportedly decamped and declared his unwavering support for Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and the government.

Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose attended an event held by the CS at Makairo, West Mugirango, two days after a meeting scheduled for DP Ruto was disrupted by the police

The MP allegedly apologised to the CS for being part of the legislators who organised the chaotic meeting in Nyamira County.

South Mugirango, MP Sylvanus Osoro, distanced himself from the Matiang'i event after reports alleged that he too had decamped. The MP reiterated his stance while speaking with Kenyans.co.ke on Saturday, October 10.

"Those reports are fake. I have not decamped from Ruto's wing. I am his foot soldier in Kisii and its neighbouring regions. Hon Mose also has not shifted his allegiance.

"We love and support the CS as a brother and one of our own. He is neither a politician nor a Presidential candidate and no one has apologised to him over anything," Osoro defended.

He added that Ruto will face off with ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2022 and the DP will clinch the seat.

An insider privy to the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, October 8 alleged that DP Ruto was scolded by CSs who accused him and his wingmen of attacking the government and CS Matiang'i.

Ruto refuted the allegations. However, the new rules adopted at the meeting hampered Ruto's plans to engage with the youth and women supporting his hustler system.

A security task force team to curb the rising political tension was also unveiled.

The National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC) was established under CS Matiang'i's wing and saw the National Intelligence Service (NIS) spies included in it to source for information and advise the government on political developments.
