Churchill Comedian Othuol Othuol Dies

  • Churchill Show fraternity is in mourning after popular comedian Ben Maurice Onyango alias Othuol Othuol died on Sunday, October 11, after a long illness.

    The news was confirmed by Churchill Show comedian Zainabu Zeddy who took to her Facebook page to post Othuol's photo with the caption "RIP" Rest in Peace.

    Comedian and Churchill show Creative Director Lawrence Macharia alias Terrance Creative also posted a farewell message following Othuol's demise.

    "Rest In Peace bro Othuol Othuol aki nimeisha nguvu (I am incapacitated)," read a post from Terrance Creative.

    Othuol Othuol was on Monday, September 28, rushed to hospital in critical condition but according to reports, he did not receive treatment as there was an ongoing nurses’ strike at the time.

    The comedian was then taken to Shalom Hospital in Athi River, Machakos County, following his long battle with brain tumour where he was admitted.

    Othuol has been in an out of the hospital for a number of months now. In July, the comedian collapsed and was taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital. 

    Award-winning comedian Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill who runs the show also mourned Othuol Othuol after gracing his stage countless times.

    "So sad Ben Maurice popularly know as Othuol Othuol has gone to be with the Lord after a long struggle with Brain Tumor. May he Rest In Peace," read a statement from Churchill. 

    In an interview in November 2019, Othuol Othuol revealed that he had been diagnosed with TB and Vitamin D deficiency.

    "I told my friend Tumbili about how I was feeling and together with my wife, Karis and Butita, they took me to the hospital where I was diagnosed with TB," he said.

    The comedian entertained many with his humorous jokes and style of narration which tended to adopt a deep accent from the Lake Region.
