President Uhuru Kenyatta has called the National Assembly and Senate leadership to a meeting slated for Saturday, October 17.
Speculations are rife as to the nature and details of the meeting with the house leadership coy on why the President summoned them.
Reports indicate that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is one of the main topics set to be discussed in the Saturday meeting.
Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang'ata, however, revealed that the meeting is set to streamline government business and ensure everything is ironed out.
"The government is happy with the good work done by Senate in the last four months; we have processed a record 10 Bills including County Attorney Bill, County Revenue Appropriation Bill, and County Government Amendment Bill.
"We have entered into a historical deal where counties will get an extra Ksh.50 billion. I expect that we will discuss how to ensure government business flows in the House without a hitch," said Kang'ata in an interview with Citizen.
This comes after Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu formed a five-judge bench on Wednesday to hear and determine the constitutional merit to dissolve Parliament.
Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday, September 21, wrote to Uhuru, asking him to dissolve Parliament for failing to enforce the two-thirds gender rule.
National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi on his part noted that the President will have an open session with the recently anointed Parliament leadership.
Mbadi added that BBI was not on the agenda.
The last time Uhuru summoned Senate leaders to State House was on Tuesday, September 15, to resolve the impasse on county revenue allocation.
