A 19-year-old girl, Mary Wanjiku,has made an appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta after she created a miniature of State House, which she intends to hand over to him.
Wanjiku made the special request to Uhuru, asking him to allow her visit State House to present the gift that has been lying on her shelf for some time now.
Wanjiku who suffers from epilepsy revealed that she was inspired to build the miniature State House after the General Elections back in 2017.
"I was inspired to make a gift for the President in 2017. I did not have an ID at the time, and therefore I could not vote in the elections. That is how I came up with this gift.
"I have tried a lot to meet the President, but I have not been successful, and now since he has not seen his gift, he can now see it through the video," she said.
Wanjiku pleaded with the President to help fulfil her dream of visiting State House.
She makes the miniature houses from recycled cartons, something that cost her Ksh.7,000.
The 19-year-old has also made a miniature structure of Deputy President William Ruto's Karen residence and even met him, but is yet to present the gift to him after her appointment went cold.
"I met the Deputy and showed him the house after which he gave me an appointment, but I did not manage to take the house to him.
"I tried doing a follow up for three months and was not successful, but I still have hope despite keeping the gifts for three years now," she added.
Wanjiku uses art to express herself and deal with depression after was forced to drop out of school in 2016.
