Alice Wangui Gathumbi, who is a senior official at the Ministry and a mother of two, is said to have left her Syokimau home for a salon appointment at 9 am but never showed up.

Four days after her disappearance, Wangui's family reported her disappearance at the Mlolongo police station.

"She left headed for town for a morning appointment but the most unfortunate thing is that since she walked out of the gate, her phone was switched off and no one has come into contact with her," Job Mugo, Wangui's husband stated.

CCTV footage obtained by police officers captured Wangui being picked by a boda boda rider outside their home at around 6:38am.

At the time, she was wearing a black coat, a multi-coloured dress, a pair of black sandals and was holding a black handbag.

Police are now looking for the boda boda rider who picked her from her house that morning.

While addressing journalists, Mugo stated that he and his wife were in good terms even before she headed for the appointment on the said morning.

"It has been quite tough, not only for me but for the children as well. The place feels so  incomplete without her. We have gone from hospital to hospital and even to the city mortuary, something we never anticipated we would do but we are yet to see her," Mugo stated.

The family have since requested Kenyans to help find their lost kin as they remain positive that she will finally be traced.

The story came days after the DCI managed to trace and rescue a teenager who had been missing for seven months.

The boy, only identified as Muriithi had fled from his home in Sagana, Kirinyaga County, prompting the family to report the matter to the police.
