The Ministry of Health has announced that an additional 756 people tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample of 4,316 tested in the last 24 hours.
According to a statement from Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the country’s total cases stand at 63,244.
From the new cases, 731 are Kenyans while 25 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 478 are males and 278 are females.
The youngest is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 81 years old.
In the same breath, CS Kagwe announced that 728 patients recovered from the disease; 645 from the Home-Based Program, while 82 were discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 42,659.
Unfortunately, 19 patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the fatality to 1,130.
Nairobi led the counties with 371 cases followed by Mombasa, 82, Kiambu 52, Busia 39, Uasin Gishu, 34, Kajiado 27, Kakamega, 18, and Nyeri, 17.
Others were Machakos 17, Nakuru, 14, Kisumu 18, Kilifi, 10, Meru, 8, Kisii, 7, Nandi, 5, Nyamira, 5, Laikipia 4, Homa Bay, 4, Lamu 4 and Kericho 4 among others.
This came on the day the world's pharmaceutical industry made a breakthrough in the fight against the coronavirus.
American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech SE announced their vaccine had been tested and found to be 90 percent effective.

The two companies noted that they had not seen safety concerns and is awaiting authorisation from the US authorities.
